Teachers gather at Pineland to explore Mindfulness and Education. It’s a beautiful day!
All Lower School teachers read the book, Everybody Present: Mindfulness in Education, by Nikolay Flor Rotne and Didde Flor Rotne in preparation for the Lower School August Teacher Retreat on Wednesday, August 27th. The theme for the retreat follows:
“Lower School teachers plan to engage with mindfulness thinking and how it can support our work as teachers in the Lower School. We’ll have time for sharing, reflection, conversation, and thinking about how to incorporate some of these ideas into our work with students.”
Most Lower School teachers attended Professional Development workshops this summer pursuing all sorts of professional growth. 9 LS teachers (the entire 2-3 and 4-5 teams) attended EdTechTeacher technology trainings in Cambridge, MA, 2 LS teachers attended a 4-day Mindful Teaching Institute at Chewonki, and 1 teacher attended the Hardy Girls Healthy Women Summer 2014 Institute (Navigating Girl World: Connecting the Dots… Changing the Culture).
